Fake QB Power Pop Pass with Jet Motion

by Coach Jake Franklin

In the redzone, defenses are constantly thinking about stopping the run. That is what makes this play so effective.

LB’s key in on things such as pulling Guards and Jet Motions. They have to fulfill their duty to fit the run correctly. Because of the pulling Guard and Jet Motion in this play, the LB’s are flowing and fitting the run without hesitating. As mentioned earlier, LB’s bite on Play-Action much more frequently in the redzone because of the high run tendencies of most offenses in this area of the field. All of the “window dressing” that the offense adds to this Pop Pass makes the chance of completion much higher.

Because the LB’s bite on both the Jet Motion and the Power Play-Action, the Tight End is able to slip by the defense untouched for a touchdown. The RB lead blocks for the QB and the QB sells the QB Power, completing everything the offense needs to make the defense sellout to stop the run.
